RENEWABLES TO CHEMICALS 

KVT has developed and successfully established a process for the manufacturing of biogenic glycerine, based on the use of crude glycerine or raw glycerine from biodiesel production.
Depending on the applications, different glycerine qualities are required. From technical grade through pharmaceutical grade and up to kosher grade, the purification process is a key factor in ensuring the required quality.
Glycerine is a well-known versatile raw material with a vast range of industrial applications. Large glycerine availability resulting from the increased production of biodiesel, has motivated researchers to explore new glycerol-based applications. KVT offers consulting and engineering services to support customers who are interested in developing glycerine derivatives products and related production technology.
KVT has developed a process technology to produce sustainable green solvents from glycerine as glycerol-formal and isopropylidene-glycerol as well as the technology for the production of epichlorohydrin and epoxy resins.

ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION 

OXYSULF is a wet process technology for the recovery, regeneration and production of sulfuric acid from various types of off-gases, spent acid or sulfur burning. The process is based on wet-catalytic oxidation, or the combination of thermal and catalytic oxidation, of sulfur bearing compounds and the formation of sulfuric acid. A smart tail-gas treatment system allows to reach exceptional low SO2 emissions at stack.

WASTE TO VALUE

To reclaim waste streams and sustainably produce energy, any organic substrate can be processed using BDI Biogas technology. Ideal feed materials for BDI’s biogas process include waste and side streams from breweries, food production, and the poultry industry. This flexible anaerobic digestion process can be designed as single- or multi-stage, optimized for the specific feedstock to achieve maximum yield and product quality.

The compact design of the plant allows for direct on-site integration, generating process heat or electricity from the produced biogas. Alternatively, the biogas can be purified further and fed into the gas grid for profit. Additionally, the remaining digestate can be utilized as a certified agricultural fertilizer.
